Week 15: Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

Well here we are, the end of another semester.  I expect that you are more than ready to be finished with the course.  If I had one X-mas wish, it would be to have my assignments grade themselves ;-)

Tonight: I want to ensure you understand all that needs to be complete to be finished with the course.  I will be checking TaskStream narratives and/or giving you time to write them in class.  Remember to use your Inspiration graphic organizer to help with the artifacts you will be using.

What else?  I have given everyone a grade for all of the hard work you did using the Google tools throughout the semester.  Ensure you submit a link to your iMovie PSA and turn in the checklist if you haven't already.  Also, you will be submitting your Emerging Technology checklist.  In Cougar Courses, I have an assignment titled, Attendance and Participation.  Please go there and complete the short reflection withing Moodle.  The course evaluation should be in your email.  Please complete the evaluation.  If possible, I would like to have proof that you completed the evaluation before the end of class tonight.

Based on the lukewarm response to my offer to show you how to use Photoshop, I wanted to provide you a sample of something you could do with the program.  My daughters are in the picture above that was taken during a soccer tournament in Coronado!  Anyway, with more time . . .

Final Question:  What is the best thing you will take away from this course?

  1. I think the best thing I will take away from this course is the knowledge to be able to obtain information that will make me a more effective teacher. Being able to collaborate with other educators and learn from their experiences will benefit me, especially in my first years of teaching.

I have learned so much from this class and used digital tools I have never even heard about. I learned how technology is an innovative way to enhance student learning. Lastly, I learned the importance of networking and collaborating with fellow educators and social networking sites. I am excited to include what I have learned into my future curriculum. I

  3. The best thing that I will take from this class is the new ideas and techniques to apply in my future classroom. I never before found the importance of using technology inside the classroom until I took Ed422. I am excited to apply my new "skills" as a teacher but also as a student and life long learner.

  4. The experience with the web. Never before have I had to do so much with the world wide web. One thing I will take away is that the web is in a primary stage and still growing web 3.0 here we come. I'll definitely be using the Prezi with other presentations. Great class I wish I could retain all.

  10. Three of best things I will take away with this course is one knowing that if I don't know the answer I don't have to be afraid to look for it. Knowing how many different options are out there I know that I can look for it, find it, get a tutorial, and learn how to use it. Two is patience. I know how frustrated I get trying to help my parents and I think Jeff's taught me to be patient because teaching someone the tools to succeed feels a lot better than getting angry. Lastly, I learned to not be intimidated by macs. Before this course they were one of the scariest pieces of technology to me. Now I kind of want one.
    Thanks Jeff!

  11. The best thing I will take away from this course is the knowledge of the various ways I can integrate technology into the classroom. Although I cannot say I have mastered anything, I did get the basics down and I know how to find tutorials if I need them. I will be able to use all of this knowledge to enhance student learning in the classroom when I am a teacher.

  12. The best thing that I will take away from this course, is pretty much everything I have learned which is all the assignments. I have found a lot of the material and assignments to be helpful in pursing my career as a teacher. Before this class, I thought of technology as a stressful thing to deal with, and after taking this class, I have learned technology as a tool, not only for my personal life but my educational career.

  15. The best thing i will take away from this class is if I don't know how to do something there will be a video on youtube to show me :) I learned a lot in this class and the best tool was probably all that google has to offer. I actually am currently using googledocs in a class as we speak to work on a group paper. Also, I learned how to make technology available to students in the classroom and how to incorporate it in an effective manner and at an appropriate grade level.

  16. Specifically, PREZI! I just used it for a class presentation and it went over very well. I had people come up to me afterward and ask how they could make a presentation like that. (I embedded the Prezi on my blog, even though my original presentation was with PowerPoint.)

On a more general note, I feel SO confident using the tools we learned in class. I can't believe how much I learned in just four months. My link list on my blog keeps getting longer because I have to add the latest cool thing that you showed us. I've also found that I'm teaching other people about these tools - my family and people in my other classes. I've explained Twitter to at least three people now! I have a better understanding of the value of Twitter, Delicious, and blogs as a way to contribute to the educational community. Overall - great class! Thank you!!
