I was on what my daughters call "dad's walkabout" and took this amazing picture of the sunset from my iPhone. I live by SDSU, so it was at least 10 miles away from the beach. It just reminds me of how amazing it is to live in San Diego. Anyway, we are really almost finished with the hard part of the course: the assignments. You will be completing a few more projects, ensuring you have a rock star blog, then writing your TaskStream narratives. Easy, right?
This Week: You will be introduced to Inspiration, which you will be using to brainstorm the remaining artifacts for TaskStream. Also, I have included the checklist for what should be on your blog. This checklist is actually the Emerging Technology assignment. As a said previously in class, I want to reward everyone for the hard work you have put into your blogs.
Journal 8 & 9: The latest issue of L&L has hit the . . .Internet? You should be able to access the digital copy on the ISTE website. You may choose any two articles from the issue that interest you. Ensure you use the Citation Machine for the articles. If you have found another great source for articles on technology in education, feel free to use one for either journal 8 or 9.
Journal 10: You can search L&L for an article. Again, ensure you properly cite the article.
This Week's Question: What is your current favorite timesucker? This is the thing/activity/game/website/whatever that prevents you from doing other things you know you should be doing (like, say, completing work for this class).
Currently for me, I would have to say I have an unhealthy addiction to the game Angry Birds on my iPad. I even downloaded the Angry Birds Halloween edition and spent the entire weekend trying to beat it. . .which I did sometime Sunday afternoon ;-)
I love reading the "text from last night" and "FML" on my phone before I go to sleep. I know its a huge waste of time that I should/could be sleeping but they entertain me and have sadly become a bedtime routine.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time sucker is sleeping and it’s considered a time sucker because I don’t sleep the usual 8hours(that’s not enough hours for me)I usually go over that time, meaning that I have less hours to do other things. Even though it takes a lot of my time I do not regret it one bit because I think it’s one of the best feelings in the world especially after long busy days. Long hours of sleep don’t make me feel drowsy they actually make me feel energized and ready to work:)
ReplyDeleteOne of my greatest time suckers right now is homework, however that is not my favorite. My favorite time suck would be reading a good book, when I am in school I refrain from reading novels because when I start one I won't concentrate on anything else until it's finished. I am already planning what to read over the Winter break.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time sucker is watching my favorite 'novela' in youtube!! It definitely does keep me from doing important things to do. This also my stress reliever.
ReplyDeleteWatching sports (football, basketball, no more baseball for now), playing poker, and drinking good craft beer, sometimes all simultaneously definetely takes away from my productivity!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time sucker would have to be listening to and downloading music onto my iPod. I am constantly on Youtube or Pandora, Bing, etc. to look up a song by an artist that I just heard. This is a GREAT way to distract me from doing important things, especially my homework.
ReplyDeleteFantasy Football: the new internet porn for guys.
ReplyDeleteSpending time with family can be a time sucker for me because I tend to have a hard time saying no to them.
ReplyDeleteI am unfortunately addicted to ridiculous shows like 90210, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. I have been known to stay up really late finishing assignments because I HAD to watch one of these shows.
ReplyDeleteI am addicted to bubble breaker a game on my phone. I spend waaay too much time on it. Just to give you an idea I got my phone in May and I have played like 800 games already!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite timesucker would be the beach. Just a drive down with friends can end up taking 5 or 6 hours!
ReplyDeleteI often get distracted by movies. I like to be lazy on my couch and watch movies. I get new movies each week and will stay up late watching them.
ReplyDeleteI also bought Angry Birds Halloween edition last week and have spent more time than I should playing it and trying to beat the different levels. Otherwise, I honestly have no outside time from school and work to have an "unhealthy" time consuming addiction. If I had the time, I would be caught up on my assignments and I would spend any extra time watching shows like The Office, Community, Greys Anatomy, and Private Practice.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be sleeping and craigslist. I can fall at sleep very easily and when I am not Ill be online looking for deals on classic vehicles or bicycles.
ReplyDeleteMy timesucker is my xbox360...i cant get away from Call of Duty. If i am not working i am playing COD
ReplyDeleteI would have to say just the biggest time suck is homework itself. I have so much homework and its so tedious and long and boring it cuts back on being able to do other homework.
ReplyDeleteRight now I've been reading books online off amazon... but I never finish them... I just sort of read a good portion of the beginning and then skim through the rest knowing I have a ton of homework to do.
ReplyDeleteI spend a lot of my free time at my friend Julie's house because her son is my Godson. He is 7 months old and I can't get enough of him. I'll usually call and say I'm "swinging" by, and then spend the whole day there.
ReplyDeleteHomework is a huge time sucker for me, especially Statistics. Other than that I spend time watching The Office or Keeping up with the Kardashians, or anything interesting on the History channel or National Geographic.
ReplyDeleteMy timesucker is People magazine! I check the website a couple of times a day (I'm not sure why because there aren't very many updates) and I read the magazine cover to cover every week. My husband calls it "Lisa's ESPN" since that's his timesucker!
ReplyDeleteUsually when I am with my friends I spend a lot time playing FIFA 2011. This soccer video game is an addiction to any one that loves soccer.
ReplyDeleteMost of my time gets sucked up by daydreams. Sometimes I coast through a whole day just dreaming.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite timesucker is watching soap operas in Spanish. Right now I'm following three different ones and they're shown right after another, since they are an hour long, that makes three whole hours of my day wasted.... but I love watching them! One is about to end, but there are still the other two left.
ReplyDeleteMy timesucker is just being online checking emails, checking facebook, getting music, watching tv episodes that I missed, and the list goes on:)
ReplyDeleteCurrently one of my time suckers would have to be watching movies on Netflicks, because its usually more relaxing than doing homework, and it keeps me from doing my homework.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend, friends, nieces and now lakers
ReplyDeleteOne of my greatest time suckers right now is to watch my new “novela” that barely started a few weeks ago. I spend a lot of time watching “novelas.”
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time suckers are catching up on all the shows I recorded during the week. I am so busy with school that I stay up late every night to watch everything. I can't miss a single episode of any of my favorite shows. I will not be able to function.
ReplyDeleteThis new book I purchased a few days ago has been my greatest time sucker lately. I can't put it down!
